My winter in Sweden

My friend Malva created some very delicious and christmasy drinks for the "Julboard" (Traditional Swedish Christmas Buffet).

We had a lot of fun designing and testing them.

We made this apple cinnamon, an lingonberry of course and a cafe drink with lots of saffron cream on top (:

Despite the freezing cold, we embraced every single moment. We went on sleigh rides through the snowy landscapes, spent evenings in front of the fireplace while sipping hot chocolate and nibbling on pepperkaker and listening to guitar Musik. It couldn't be more magical (:

We spent hours preparing for the traditional "Julbord", the festive spread of Swedish Christmas delicacies, which added a warm, joyful touch to the frosty season. It was a cozy, unforgettable experience that made the cold feel like a part of the charm.

My winter in Sweden was probably one of the most magical and christmasy winter I've ever had. I was living my childhoods dream, right out of an Astrid Lindgren novel. All the charming little red and white houses, the cold & powdery snow, the beautiful snow-covered landscape with frozen lakes and fir trees. You smelled pepperkaker (Gingerbread) & waffle scent wherever you go. This time was full of coziness, warm hugs and delicious traditional Swedish dishes.

We spent the days with preparing for the special "Julbord" (a traditional christmas buffet in restaurants in Sweden). Our cafe was turned into a restaurant over the christmas time. So we prepared a lot of amazing and tasty dishes, crafted all day long, made many wreaths to hang up on our doors, dried oranges for garlands, baked thousands of pepperkaker, lussekatter and cakes, drank hot cacao and ate all the sweets we made hihi (:

During Christmas time you will find the "Julbord" (Swedish for "Christmastable") in every restaurant.

It's a buffet full of traditional Swedish dishes like Köttbullar, red cabbage, fish, Knäkebröd, cheese and much much more.
We were preparing the whole december for it, we cooked, baked, decorated and crafted and I even had the honor to design the flyers for our first Julbord in the cafe.

As I sit here, reflecting on my time in Sweden, I find myself filled with gratitude for the journey I’ve experienced.

The beautiful landscapes, the warmth of the people, and the comforting embrace of Swedish culture have left an indelible mark on my heart.

From the cozy days in the cafe on the farm to the joyful moments shared with locals, every part of this adventure has felt like stepping into a storybook, almost like living within the pages of an Astrid Lindgren book.

The language, the food, and the unmistakable sense of hygge that fills the air made Sweden an indivisible part of me.  I went there with a childlike curiosity, and I left with a soul full of memories and a heart that will forever belong to this magical land. I am forever grateful for this marvelous experience and I can't wait to visit Sweden again (:

I hope my photos have been able to share a glimpse of this incredible journey with you. Perhaps they’ll inspire you to travel Scandinavia and experience the season there from a new perspective.

Thank you for joining me on this visual journey, until the next adventure! (:

Jag önskar dig en underbar dag!

Heydå (:
